00 an hour Attention Emergency Department Support Assistants! The Danbury Emergency Department is looking to grow and is adding part time positions to its team.
This position is a great role for someone looking to be a part of a well-respected emergency department and will answer between 100 - 400 calls per day and using multi-tasking skills determine next steps.
As and ED Support Assistant , you will coordinate the ED activity, interact with patients, doctors and consultants and provide clerical and patient information to charge nurses, clinical leaders and manager.
These positions offer flexibility in work shifts (work 40 hours within a 6 week period), a great way to grow and learn within the emergency area of the hospital and exposure to leaders in the field.
Qualified candidates must have at least 6 months relevant experience (eg.
handling phone inquiries, healthcare experience, strong ability to multitask and prioritize cases) flexibility to work at least 4 - 5 shifts per 6 week period (hours are between 6AM - 11:
30PM with 8 or 12 hour shifts depending on needs).
MUST have High School Diploma or GED and a can-do attitude.
Prior healthcare experience is strongly preferred.
Pay rate is $16.
50 - $17/hour depending on relevant experience.

Summary:
Provides clerical support, coordinates general activity and communicates clearly with all disciplines.
Assists with patient through-put and other related tasks.
Responsibilities:
1.
Assesses and performs clerical needs of the unit based on clinical requests and monitoring of patient activity in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent and continuous manner.
2.
Provides input to charge nurse, clinical leader, and manager with department staffing process.
3.
Maintains proficiency in HMED, Cerner, Invision, Teletracking and other system applications required for the performance of required duties.
4.
Completes and maintains scanning functions accurately identifying the correct patient and document to ensure an accurate patient chart in EDIS and Document Imaging.
5.
Performs all tasks associated with various alerts; may include but is not limited to Trauma alert, Stroke Alert, STEMI alert, etc.
6.
Maintains knowledge of all downtime functions and their associated impact on ancillary systems.
Functions may include but are not limited to HMED and Cerner registration, Cerner orders, Invision orders, obtaining results, scanning of downtime documents, etc.
7.
Interacts effectively with other department staff who are required to provide patient care such as phlebotomy, radiology, respiratory, etc.
8.
Maintains knowledge of and performs Disaster Plan (Plan D) tasks timely, and efficiently assisting the clinical staff with patient through-put.
9.
Organizes and maintains all logs and files to achieve compliance with JCAHO, State, Federal, department, and organization requirements.
10.
Provides information appropriate to the age of the patients served on her/his assigned shift and within the parameters of the position.
11.
Ensures patient satisfaction through appropriate communications both in person and on the phone.
Provides clear, concise information and timely transfer of calls or information to the charge nurse.
12.
Manages and maintains various supplies such as forms, labels, paper, etc.
13.
Formulates and uses effective working relationships with all health care team members and patients.
14.
Maintains a safe and orderly work environment.
15.
Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
16.
Performs other duties as assigned.
