Provide entry-level Mechanical Engineering Design, Development, Analysis, and Project support for space, air, and ground based optical payload systems. Candidate will be part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) and take direction from a Lead Project Mechanical Engineer. Candidate will participate in the design and analysis effort for space-flight and/or ground-support mechanical systems having requirements including; precision stability, vibration & shock loads, extreme thermal and vacuum operation and high reliability.
Receive and understand requirements for the component or subassembly assigned. Develop concept candidates for meeting requirements. Use Pro-E Wildfire 4 and/or Creo to produce new design models, assembly layouts, and detail drawings. Create Bills of Material using data management software (PDMLink). Use Pro-Mechanica to evaluate structural design performance. Support the lead Engineer by being a part of an IPT which could include Systems Engineers, Structural & Thermal Analysts, Designers, Electrical Engineers, Manufacturing & Test Engineers, Supply Chain, Quality Engineering and Program Controls (Scheduling & Budgeting). Support the project through integration and test. Prepare in PowerPoint & present design review presentations if required. Evaluate flowed-down requirements. Develop appropriate design concepts.Take into consideration all functional areas simultaneously in a systematic way.Applicant would be responsible for the design of space-flight and ground support equipment.Part modeling and assembly layouts using ProE or CREODetail drawings using GD&T; principals in ProE or CREOBill Of Material creation & other data management responsibilitiesEvaluate structural design performance using hand calculations and ProMechanica)Working hands-on in a lab (most likely a cleanroom).

Currently enrolled and completed Sophomore year towards Bachelors degree program in Mechanical Engineering or related field with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA MUST BE A US CITIZEN
Should have basic knowledge of mechanical drawing principals (with GD&T; preferred) and shall be capable of using solid modeling software (ProE or Creo preferred).
Ability to work with other mechanical designers to assist in the completion of design activity.
Preferred to have some knowledge of analysis wether by hand calculations or FEA.
