Description
Provide engineering support to develop, direct, and implement the processes, methods and equipment used in the manufacturing department to ensure the company product line is manufacturing in the most cost effective and timely manner while assuring the highest quality. .
Responsibilities
Manage multiple key projects while supporting the manufacturing floor.
Provide support to Product Design and Manufacturing and ECR program for existing products and processes and equipment. Recommend design changes to improve quality, manufacturability and ease of assembly.
Provide leadership to manufacturing personnel for product improvements:
Develop, provide and maintain accurate and detailed reports, routing and methods documentation to establish the manufacturing process, cost reductions equipment and tooling justifications, and include payback period and ROI.
Direct the course of action on discrepant material for in-house and vendor manufactured parts to guard against substandard equality.
Interface and coordinate all key and support projects proficiently with Design engineering, Marketing, Materials and Production Control, Purchasing, Accounting, Manufacturing and Vendors.
Conduct special tests with particular emphasis on component evaluation and alternate source qualification.
Determine cause of problems in production which impact quality, reliability and safety and initiate proper corrective actions.
Advise test technicians, product assurance technicians and inspection personnel to aid them in their job functions.
Evaluate non-conforming material, in-house and from outside sources and arrange for appropriate disposition and corrections.
Requirements
Education:
BSME, BSEE or BSIE, or the equivalent experience of 8 years in mechanical engineering and tool and die.
Skills / Technical Knowledge /
Experience:
Minimum of 3 5 years' experience in mechanical engineering and tool and die. Requires an in-depth knowledge of fabrication processes, material specification and general industrial operations. Must be a business minded engineer to provide continuous improvements to products and processes. Must be fast paced for both High and Low Volume productions PC skills.
Must have a thorough understanding of:
Product Project Cost Estimating, Cost Analysis, DFM/DFA - FMEA - SPC, Bill of Materials and Routings. Must be able to develop process and assembly instructions that will assure achieving product quality criteria and customer satisfaction. Product planning, scheduling and justification of required equipment and tooling.
